Hi everyone,

Sorry I’ve been so distant. I’ve been working on music for my acapella group and I would like to share it with you all. Watch our videos here: The Sound of St. James

Hi everyone,

It has been a very crazy 3-weeks on Mt. St. James and I apologize for being away for so long. I’ve been working hard and especially with my all-male acapella group, The Sound of St. James. I’ve attached a few videos, so enjoy and leave your comments.

Hello all,

Since August 20th, I’ve been in training to be an Orientation Leader for the Class of 2015. We sat through session after session, nights of logistic meetings, and LOADS of dancing, bonding, and conversing. It was a phenomenal experience and I’m glad I had the opportunity to better know 54 other people (some I knew before August 20th and some I didn’t).

2011 Fall Orientation Leaders for the Class of 2015

We went through 4 great days with the Class of 2015, including the day Irene shut Holy Cross down, but in my opinion, it was still an amazing experience. I thank all of the faculty, staff, other Orientation Leaders, Sara Connolly (my OL partner), and my orientees for helping to make this experience worthwhile and I advise everyone to look into being an OL someday.

We started out as 55 individuals and ended as 1 family leaving lasting “feet-prints” in each others hearts.

Peace, love, and happiness,

Antonio

Hi All,

Sorry for being so distant since my last post, but it has been a very busy summer for me. This summer, I coordinated a Concert Series for the City of Worcester called “Out to Lunch”. I got this internship through the Holy Cross Office of Government and Community Relations. I worked with the phenomenal Worcester Cultural Coalition also and became the “All things Cultural Assistant”. So instead of writing a blog about my experience, I’m going to post some great photos and videos for  you all to watch and enjoy. If you have questions, please comment and I’ll definitely answer them.

Peace, love, and happiness,

Antonio

When one attends a conference, they always hope to leave with a ton of new connections, ideas, and stories. It’s not often that one leaves with life-long friends. On July 7, 2011 at 8:45AM on the Information Commons at the Loyola University– Chicago, I met 14 student leaders, who were placed in Group 5. These individuals helped to make my experience in Chicago, at the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference [NJSLC] worthwhile.

Top Row (left to right): Christopher Brown, Loyola University – Maryland; Elizabeth Slamkowski, Gonzaga University; Joe Colak, Xavier University; Robert Olson (Group Leader), Loyola University- Chicago; Hannah Archuleta, Creighton University; Lexy Pickett, Le Moyne College; Pete Hayden, John Carroll University; and Emilia Twomey, Saint Joseph’s University; Top Row (left to right): Antonio Willis-Berry, College of the Holy Cross; Kevin Tran, Loyola University – New Orleans; Gabriela Santiago-Romero, University of Detroit Mercy; Ryan O’Toole, Fordham University; and Nicole Gaddie, Seattle University

The conversations, stories, and adventures we shared were the best part of the conference in my opinion and helped to make me a better leader. We were 14 individuals, from 14 different Jesuit institutions, who came together by mere chance, who had lots of fun together, and commenced our bond by dancing together at the NJSLC party on the last night.

I am glad for the opportunity to have gotten to know every single one of them and I hope that our friendship continues well beyond NJSLC 2011.

Peace, love, and happiness,

Antonio

Hello all,

This summer, Holy Cross sent 10 students and 3 Associate Directors to the National Jesuit Student Leadership Conference at University of Loyola Chicago. We left Holy Cross at about 4AM this morning, left the Logan Airport at 6:55AM, arrived at Loyola-Chicago at 9:30, went through registration, and met the Loyola-Chicago mascot.

We’ve been through Chicago, seen a few sights and sounds, and I personally can’t wait for the next time we get a chance to tour the city. I’m currently sitting in my air-conditioned room, finishing up my last minute edits to my presentation for tomorrow. I’m speaking to student leaders about committing themselves to those things they care the most about often being a struggle. In this workshop, we will be discussing different techniques and strategies about how student leaders can give their all to those activities they are involved in, while still leaving time for academics and cura personalis. They will be able to take the techniques discussed back to their Jesuit college or university to help other student leaders become better leaders. Wish me luck!!

Peace, love, and happiness,

Antonio
